I have been thinking about buying a waffle maker for a while now.
Did some homework and the Waffle Makers that seem to get consistently the best reviews
were made by Chef’s Choice.
I decided to go with this model.
Chef’s Choice Belgian Waffle Pro #850.
Taking advice from my friend Jessica I used the Waffles of Insane Greatness recipe.
Which was a good choice.
Great flavour and texture.
The only change I would make next time is to reduce the amount of buttermilk slightly.
The batter is just a touch too thin for a Belgium Waffle Maker.
The instructions said that there was no need to oil as the surface was non stick.
I really debated whether to believe this or not, but in the end I took their word for it
and I didn’t oil.
Turns out they were right.
Oiling wasn’t necessary.
Oiling wasn’t necessary.
Even the first waffle turned came out great.
I decided to serve the waffles two ways.
Strawberries and Whipped Cream
and Butter and Maple Syrup.

Ingredients
3/4 cup all-purpose flour
1/4 cup cornstarch
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1/4 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 cup whole milk or buttermilk
1/3 cup vegetable oil
1 egg
1-1/2 teaspoons sugar
3/4 teaspoon vanilla extract
Butter and syrup, for serving
Directions
In a medium bowl, combine the flour, cornstarch, baking powder, baking soda, and salt; mix well. Add the milk, vegetable oil, egg, sugar and vanilla and mix well. Let the batter sit for 30 minutes.
Preheat a waffle iron. Do not use non-stick spray on the waffle iron; the oil in the batter will allow the waffle to release easily. Follow the directions on your waffle iron to cook the waffles. Serve immediately with butter and syrup.
I have 2 waffle irons I love..and not as many waffle recipes I love..Thank you:-) Yours look so good:-) My favorite kind of toys Ann-
Tomorrow's breakfast, for certain. I have two waffle makers and am always looking for the perfect waffle recipe. My go-to is one I cut from The Toronto Star about 30 years ago. It doesn't call for buttermilk, but for beaten egg whites.
You will love your waffle maker. I love to make seasonal waffles and even latke waffles every once in a while.
Just now saw this post Ann. I love this recipe and have used it in my regular waffle iron/maker (not Belgian-style), so I appreciate your tip about reducing the amount of Buttermilk to make Belgian-style.Oh no, now I am intrigued with your new waffle maker… those look fabulous! I'm ready for waffles for dinner tonight. ;o) Not kidding! xoxo
