Had nothing planned for dinner and didn’t feel like going out to pick up ingredients so I decided to make do with what I had on hand.
Decided to make a pizza and bake it on the grill.
Kneaded up some dough.
Made my favourite sauce using fresh oregano from the herb garden.
Sauteed some Italian Sausage that I had to first remove from the casings.
Once the dough was ready it was just a matter of rolling out the dough, putting it on a large pizza pan, and topping with the sauce, fresh mozzarella balls (Bocconcini cheese) , sausage, fresh basil and a drizzle of olive oil.
The Grill was heated to just over 700°F.
The pizza was placed on the right hand side of the grill. As soon it it was on the grill, I turned off the three burners under the pizza and just kept the two burners on the left on high.
After about a minute, the dough had firmed up enough that I could slide the pizza off the pan and directly on to the grill.
The grill maintained a 450°to 500°F so it didn’t take long for the pizza to bake.
One of our favorite meals here..have not grilled one in yrs..It does look delish Ann.
This is a great post! I've been wanting to make pizza but balked at turning on the oven in this hot weather. I've also been hesitant to start the pizza directly on the grill. Your two-step baking is the perfect solution. So tomorrow, I'll make some dough in the morning and we can have pizza for dinner. My husband will love it.
