Halibut Season Now Open

Halibut Season opened March 17th and the first fresh halibut arrived at my favourite Seafood Shoppe – Cowichan Bay Seafood – this week.
I stopped on the way home from work on Friday and picked up a FRESH  halibut filet.  Oh MY!!!! the first halibut  of the season is such a treat.   I look forward to this ‘first’ every year.

Prepared simply (Piccata style) with a lemon, butter and green peppercorn sauce (with a little fresh garlic) and

served with Spaghetti Aglio E Olio, with the addition of broccoli.

I clipped the recipe from Eric Akis' column last week, in anticipation of the first fresh halibut. Yours looks good too!

  2. Pondside, thank you for mentioning Eric's Column. The one recipe that really appeals to me is the PHYLLO-WRAPPED HALIBUT WITH ASPARAGUS AND SHRIMP. I do something similar with Salmon. Ann

I don't know which looks better, the fish or the pasta, so I can imagine how good this meal was. I usually don't do well cooking halibut so I'll hjave to try it loke this.

  4. What a great photo of a delicious sounding meal. I had halibut when we dined out this weekend. I can't wait until it is in our market. Should be any day.
