Coarse Sea Salt ( I use Maldon Salt Flakes)
Place butter, cream, sugars and pinch of salt in a heavy sauce pan.
Simmer until caramel reaches the soft ball stage.
Remove from heat. Stir in vanilla. Pour caramel over rice krispies

Sprinkle with sea salt and refrigerate until cold.

Oddly, I never had these growing up. It is always the first thing Mr. T. goes for when we are some place that they are served. I had no idea how much he liked them. These sound perfect. I would love the caramel sauce on them!
Decadent for sure:) Ann..so many new twists on the classic..my dd made some that look like watermelon slices this week..her mom will follow for the boys:)
Oh,my. Rice Krispie treats are tempting enough on their own, but add caramel and they are irresistible!!! These sound fantastic, Ann.
I made these last night, it's hard to stay away from them. This morning I figured, perfect for breakfast since they are made with Rice Krispies! Now I need to justify eating them for lunch.
I'm glad I'm not the only one with that problem. LOL!. They really are addictive.
How much vanilla & course salt do you add to the caramel sauce?
Girlyschmoo, just a pinch of salt in the caramel sauce. At least two or three teaspoons of real vanilla extract, not artificial. And just a little sprinkle of sea salt on each square. Less is more. You do not want the squares to be \”salty\”. I prefer using Maldon Sea Salt flakes.
