We spent the weekend at the Kris Kringle Craft’s Market selling our Cutting Boards. I took some time to wander around checking out all the other vendors, of which there were many. Over 150 this year.
I bought Maple Butter from the Maples Sugar Shack (Squamish, BC). I purchased it specifically to use on scones.
I adapted my regular scone recipe by adding toasted walnuts and subbing some brown sugar for half the white. I also used 1/4 maple syrup and 3/4 cream for the liquid.
A toasted walnut scone topped with a little maple butter, served with a cup of strong coffee was the perfect way to start the morning.
These are gorgeous….I must try doing this…
Oh my gosh..Jacques would love these..Lucky lucky Moe.
I'm very fond of the flavor of maple and know I would love these wonderful scones. I wish I could have walked around the Market with you, Ann. I imagine you saw some very nice things.
Oh my, they look so deeeeelish! Photo's like this make it hard to be Gluten Free right now! Mmmmm yummy.
These scones look gorgeous! I love the flavor combination!
I could eat one right now! I think the toasted walnuts would be a great addition to the scones and go with the maple flavor beautifully.
I remember maple butter from my childhood. It would be a perfect start the day on some scones warm from the oven.
Ouh, I have some Maple butter (Shady Farms–Quebec) in my cabinet. I will have to make these soon.
I had bought Maples Sugar Shack maple butter at a harvest fair in Vancouver. Do you have any contact information for them as I am looking to buy more.
