Toasted Walnut Scones with Maple Butter

We spent the weekend at the Kris Kringle Craft’s Market selling our Cutting Boards. I took some time to wander around checking out all the other vendors, of which there were many.   Over 150 this year.

I bought Maple Butter from the Maples Sugar Shack (Squamish, BC).  I purchased  it specifically to use on scones.

I adapted my regular scone recipe  by adding toasted walnuts and subbing some brown sugar for half the white.  I also used 1/4 maple syrup and 3/4 cream for the liquid.

A toasted walnut scone topped with a little maple butter, served with a cup of strong coffee was the perfect way to start the morning.

I could eat one right now! I think the toasted walnuts would be a great addition to the scones and go with the maple flavor beautifully.

  7. I remember maple butter from my childhood. It would be a perfect start the day on some scones warm from the oven.
