Moe’s Birthday Dinner

We celebrated Moe’s birthday
on Tuesday.
For dinner I made Cioppino

with Dungeness Crab, 
local Spot Prawns, Clams and Halibut. With grilled, garlic olive oil brushed baguette.
Served with a bottle of Mumm Champagne.
And for dessert we had a Strawberry Meringue Roulade.

It is a tradition to always have a Birthday cake/dessert with strawberries on his birthday. 
Moe grew up in Windsor, Ontario and strawberries were always out in May. 
And as luck would have it,
 I found the first local strawberries of the season 
here in the Cowichan Valley.
